Merry Christmas!!
eh.. hang on... i think this is the 2nd one...
ya... i've been here in melb few years ago. that time, i left on the 26th i think... or 25th? but definitely not 27th!
well, this is my first christmas in melb city!
went to the crown for the christmas carols at 8.10pm
after that, we waited for the flame along the river but it didn't come out!
so we went home after that. :(
then, watched the Carols by Candlelight on tv.
it's actually a 'concert' in Melb, an open-air stage.
next time if i'm in melb for christmas, must go to their rehearsal on the 23rd! it's far cheaper than the real show... ya.. you need to pay for the REHEARSAL!!
and another thing is...
a fren just told me that Boulevard in Ivanhoe has lots of xmas decorations!
many houses there are decorated for the xmas.
i remember seeing few houses like those at Endeavour Hills
hmm... my 2 'christmas plans' if i'm in Melb during xmas...
1) go to the REHEARSAL of Carols by Candlelight then watch the real thing on tv
2) see decorations at Boulevard in Ivanhoe
:D
i guess things i like most abt xmas are the carols and the decorations
oh... and see if i can add this on my list... boxing day shopping! haha!

'Back' in melb
came back yesterday night (just hours ago).
well, this trip wasn't as good as i've expected.
but it's still alright.
met 2 new friends (should call them our family friends), met up with a friend, and mum's old schoolmate (or classmate?)
I think it's not a good trip for someone who has never been to syd coz we didn't go to many 'tourist spots'.
and i haven't been to the Fish market!!! :(
next time to syd, it's a must go destination for me!! haha!
It's sooooo good to be (back) in Melb. I miss my bed, my pillow, my toys, my quilt, my room, and my internet!!!!
I went to bed early in Syd, everynight before 12 (except one day, 12.30).
coming back to melb means a few more days before goin back to my 'real home'...
looking forward to meet my friends there, shopping in kl and the fooooood!!

:(
really disappointed by pathology... the 80% ppr with 3 essays + dunno how many (forget d) short answer questions
now that i've got my results, another decision to make now...
anyways, tmr mum and dad are goin to the GreatOceanRoad day trip.
hope they'll enjoy
while me and my grandma will be at home... hmm... i'll make a chocolate cheesecake with her.

This is bad...
really hate myself for that!!!
To be honest, although they are here now... i'm not as happy as you thought i'll be.
I know this is not right.
I'm easily annoyed by the little things that they do. they don't have bad intension at all... but i'm just...
feel bad abt that... :(
this is my dad's first trip to Australia. for sure i want him to enjoy his stay here!
but now...
i've screwed things up.
mayb i've expected too much from them.
mayb i should just 'adapt' to 'how' they are.
i admit that i did change ever since i came overseas to study...
if not, i wouldn't feel like this right? as in...
i don't recall myself being annoyed by them when i'm still in high school!
Really hope that time can go backwards... even for 2 hours!

Disappointment...
Shouldn't have mentioned 'something' to her just now...
aih....
feel disappointed with her coz...
whenever i ask her for opinion when i hv problems or facing a dilemma,
wat she says is exactly wat i've thought of before i open my mouth to ask her.
and sometimes, I am the one who will be telling her why her ideas don't work!
plus she won't ask me more abt the situation and stuff. therefore that makes me very reluctant to tell her more abt it.
so... wat's the point of me mentioning my problems to her?!!
she might think that i'm old enough to make my own choice.
but i just want someone who can at least discuss the problem with me,
i'm not hoping for a direction!

不请自来的...
(well, except that SzeSze is here in melb but with her family)
a 不速之客 came and 'stay' with me
who is that?
a pigeon! -_-|||
it laid eggs in the only pot of plant that i have at my balcony!
ya... EGGSSSSS! 2 of them!!! -_-|||
anyone know how long it'll take for the eggs to hatch and then fly away?
hope she won't lay anymore eggs from now on!
she laid the first egg on Tuesday,
and I saw the 2nd one today. -_-|||
aih....
well, it was very hot in Melbourne today... was 33c in the city at ard 4.30pm
went merayau-rayau in melb central in the afternoon... ooh... merayau-rayau means strolling in malay.
although i was alone, i quite like it that way.
well, sometimes lar...
still prefer being together with frens. :)
i went up to the cinema in Melb central...
Harry Potter starts showing today!
but hmph... noone to watch with... u guys went back already!! :(

ARGH!!!

yay! which means, holiday coming soon!!!
well, today... bit disappointed with someone...
ya i know... u can't expect ppl to do the same thing to u like how u treat them. mayb i'm just expecting too much? or i care too much at first?
fine... life's like this.. u can never get things fair and square.
ok, i'm just disappointed, nothing more...
alright, just finish my dinner,
time to stuff things inside my brain now.. hope they all will go to the neocortex, or at least stay in hippocampus till my exams finish! haha!
First ppr... soon...
At last!! when most ppl finish countdown-ing, 'busy' celebrating, or even 'home-sweet-home' already, I baru start my first ppr!! sad case...

What a dream...
this morning 7 something, i woke up suddenly to get my quilt back from the other room coz i had been using a thinner blanket this few days...
then i went back to sleep again... and started to dream abt this... (those in the bracket is wat really is in reality. haha!)
it happened in CHKL, 国字楼 dunno which floor but definitely not the ground floor.
it was the first day of my 高二. haha!
so it's still early, sky was still quite dark (which is true coz we start class at 7.40 but i usually arrive at abt 6.30 and the sky is still quite dark) but many ppl were there already... first day of school gua...
i remember seeing my counsin sis (who is 13 years old or so), her mum, my 2 aunts (they are primary school teachers in Pg).
then i went to the toilet ... and found that there was no more toilet ppr! then i saw this door in that toilet which leads to another room! that's the store room where they keep the new toilet ppr and stuff... haha!
ok.. then something wierd happened...
the few of us, went into the toilet to practise our song! seems like we're in a band or something... with me playing saxaphone (which i dunno how to!)... in a toilet!! how 'interesting' it is! after we're finished, we walked out and saw many ppl lining up to use the toilet. and from their faces, seems that they don't know wat we were doin in there for so long. -_-|||
ok... after that...
class start liao... everyone go into their own classes but i didn't coz i went to the toilet ... again??!!!! it's a unisex toilet! (hmm.. since when CH have unisex toilets?)
and by the time i came out, my class teacher had just left... guess who is that? it's 黄国兰! (my 初一班主任 and chinese teacher. she also taught me chinese for one or 2 years after form one)
so i went into the class... 5s1... shocked to see so many ppl in that class! 70 something students in that class! (we had abt 59 ppl in my 5s1)
i remember that i said: '我坐哪里啊?' then someone (sorry... forgot the face) pointed to an empty seat for me... and gosh...
coz we had too many students, we have 5 ppl sitting in the middle in rows but sharing 3 desks only! which means 2 ppl have to 'sit back' and no desk to use! i'm one of the unlucky ones....
and who's in that class? hehe...
there's 林欣怡 (a Ktn primary classmate) who sat on my left and she has a twin sister in the class too! (i'm sure she doesn't have one in reality! haha!), then a MUOSS (Melb Uni Overseas Student Services) fren sat on my right, then further right is JY.
then behind me is 倩俐 .... on her left is a guy but i forgot who is he dee....
ok then... i heard someone said... '国语干事要换' ... means... they've just chosen a 国语干事 in 黄国兰's class??!! 黄国兰 is teaching us BM??!! That's interesting!! haha!
then there's no teacher in the class at that time coz she left early...
and in front of the class is this big projector screen, showing MTV! (well, of course we didn't have huge projector screen in our class. we have white boards)
I think the song is 杨丞琳's 暧昧 and the 2 ppl sitting next to me are busy copying down the lyrics! -_-|||
then i asked wat did i miss in 黄国兰's class... the MUOSS fren showed me his notebook, with the list of all 10 subjects... and the details abt how much weightings are each of the tests and exams.
woa!! he did the 'hw' before class even started! he said his mum wants to know abt it so he did the 'research' in advance...
well.. that's abt wat i remember from the dream... haha!
sorry if u think it's a boring dream... but it's wierd for me coz ppl from my different circles actually came together in that dream!
and some of you might not understand the whole thing... but.. that's how the dream was. :)
I usually dream every night when i sleep... is that good or bad?
Friday, November 04, 2005
Those where the days...
not because it's too early
:(
miss the days me and JY chat till late at night...
miss the days when we tell each other abt any interesting stuff that happened during the day...
hate it when u usually (always) go back to m'sia earlier than me!
becoz i was the one who see you pack ur stuff like crazy (coz u always leave at the day u had ur last ppr),
and becoz i was the one who peeped at the windows to see if the taxi had arrived...
and then i'm the only one in the empty space...
:(

Distracted
Think of it now... if mum is here, I wouldn't have to think of what to eat every single meal until sometimes when i know i SHOULD be hungry but i'm not! coz i dunno wat to eat and don't feel like eating...
if dad is here as well, then they can keep each other in companied while i'm studying.
and most importantly, if mum and/or dad is here, i'll be at least more 'disciplined' to study. haha!
The reason i don't want them to come during my exam time is that
i thought they'll be a distraction for me studying, and i don't have much time to spend with them and they'll feel bored here in melb!
but now... i think that the pros are more than the cons. haha!!
hmm... next year? haha!

Found this 'thing' called Graduate Diploma in Genetic Counselling. hehe
Genetic Counsellor... sounds cool to me! haha!!
from now on... i'll consider that as one of my career options. :D

I'm lost!!!
I'm LOST!!!
I'm lost in my own world!
I'm not as self-discipline that i were before.
I think it's because of the long 'swot vac' that i have before my first paper.
I SHOULD be studying!
But I can't concentrate, can't get into the 'mood' of studying!!
aih....

A walk through my mind...
well, it was a good walk i should say...
been thinking abt something throughout the 20 mins walk.
it's abt me and myself...
或许应该说我的 2nd year subjects 也不允许我拿 6 out of 11 的选择。
这到底是好事还是不好呢?我到底有没有选错?
这只是其中一个例子。还有其他的事情也是如此。
到底‘太早’make up my mind 是好还是坏?
well, 如果 outcome turn out to be good, then 是好事。

-last day of 2nd year-
Which means 'holiday' had started. but this holiday is for studying. :(
During the 2-hour break, few of us went to a lecture theatre which has a piano in it. hehe! that was the first time i played piano since i came over from KL in Feb this year! :)
6 of us went for a dinner, a end-of-2nd year + farewell to SC dinner. She's goin off for exchange in California next year first sem.
Dunno why... don't feel like talking throughout the dinner. Sorry... Can't help it... just don't know wat to say, a bit anti-social. but i still enjoy listening to ppl talking...

Help!!!
Just like today, went for an interview for the next year's CTG production. I kept thinking back what i've said in the 15 mins interview. until now!! that's almost 2 hours since it ended! Just can't get it off my brain!! and i can't focus on my pathology!!
well, i had a few interviews in my life, not that many, still 'countable'. haha! first, that's the interview for CTG in my first year, then the one for end of 1st year chem vacation research project, then another CTG interview in last sem, and then the part-time job at St Cinnamon. among all those, for the 1st 2 interviews and the one for St Cinnamon, I don't remember myself recalling and regretting abt wat i've said or wat i should have said during the interview.
How come? not that i don't want those position/ job i've in-ed for, not becoz i hv frens to talk to abt the interviews... mayb i'm still not mature enough to 'analyse' things?! hmm... dunno...
can't wait for the clock to strike 8pm! so that i can call someone to talk. haha!!

Moody...
She's leaving next week and really hope that she'll be back in Melb uni next year again!
Will miss the time we spent eating nano-nano in lectures and library;
having lunch in union house;
and the smile on your face wherever you go...
Take good care of yourself in S'pore!! Don't let anyone worry abt you!

Grgh....
When u can do it yourself, why asking someone else who has no idea wat's happening to do it?! Grgh....
You are just troubling other ppl!! >_<
Well, had my last test before the exam for this sem. It wasn't too bad i think, except some careless mistakes?!
Anyway, time to keep up with my readings and then final exam in Nov!!

Friday night!!
....so sad....
Felt a bit wasted that I din do anything interesting on this friday night, except watching a nice movie on tv, writing this blog, listening to online radio (and suppose to study).
Read the horoscope thingy on the web just now, it's kind of accurate coz it says that I feel like goin out and do something today ... blah blah blah... haha!
That's exactly how i feel when i was reading it!
And then called a fren and told her abt that, and she felt the same too! But too bad it's too late already... it's already 11 something when i called her. can't do anything much except if i really want to, can still catch a tram to her place and play the whole nite haha!!
Just got my exam timetable today... yup, it's the end-of-sem exam in Nov!!!
Quite happy with my timetable thou... 17 21 23, starts late and ends quite late as well. But i guess it's good coz i have more time to prepare. :)
Had a highschool reunion last night.
We went to a 四川 restaurant but i won't ever go back there again. The food there wasn't too impressive and guess wat we saw there?
A big white mouse in the ceiling!!!! Grosssss!!!
Luckily nothing unusual happen to me today. haha!

13th night
Everytime when ppl in the production just started to know each other better, that's the end of the production... aih...
No more production for this year lar. Time for study.
Involved in 3 production this year.. 3 different experience, 3 different groups of ppl, 3 different post-production syndrome...
To me, it's always fun to get involved in this kind of production in uni.
The sad thing is.. next year will be my last year, last chance to play and enjoy.

Dilemma...
But... I'm not that enthusiastic as the last application.
Mayb coz my referee hasn't reply my email yet and got this error returned email when i emailed her home email address.
and also the closing date is next friday. I thought it closes after the break.
The questions that we need to mention/answer in our application letter are the exact ones for the winter application, which I don't know wat to write now! It's obvious that my previous answers are not good enough.
Well, it's really good if I'm accepted but i don't think i'm 'mentally' ready to work yet! As in, it's really like the real thing that i'll most propably be working after i graduate, except that this is still under lots of supervision.
And also, this thing will continue throughout the semester (at least the 1st sem i think), which means 8 hours per week of 'part-time job', usually during weekdays daytime. I don't really willing to loss those time for it.
As it's my final year next year, I hope to spend my time doin things that can only be done when i'm still an undergrad. haha!
I'll have plenty of time to work after i graduate!!
Uni life is short!! really short!
I totally agree with it now. time flies before you actually know wat u want to do during your uni years. aih...
and also, mayb that i've been looking forward to go back to m'sia for my 21st b'day and stuff, I don't really want to stay back during the summer hol.
hmm...
So... what should i do now?! apply or not apply??

Mid sem break loo!
lots of things to do... college gathering, high school gathering, sleepovers, CTG production and also ... study!!
2 more mid sem tests first week after the break. :(
anyway, i'll play hard and study hard during the break lar.
first mission accomplished today: spring clean the apartment
2nd mission accomplished today: 'mid-autumn festival' potluck haha!
3rd mission for tmr: patho CAL and hopefully some patho post-lecture work

Holiday!!! but not yet...
well, in my holiday mood now.. haha!
just had my last mid sem test before the break.
it started at 5.15pm!!
and then Nichole, SheeChien and others went to Boxhill for steamboat as an end-of-exam-celebration!! but i had to go to rehearsal and had KFC. :(
nvm, i'm looking forward to the 'mooncake festival party' during the break. :)
after rounds of rehearsals, think that they don't need 'ke-le-fe' for the show anymore. :(
so so so sorry to those who bought tics for the show to watch me on stage (not many lar..haha) although it's just a small small 'kelefe'.
2 weeks of break... what can i do?
not that i hv nothing to do, mayb too much to do but don't know what I should do...
and the 2 weeks will be gone before i realise how should i use my holiday.
2 mid sem in the first week after the break... so what else can i do during the break?!
Thursday, September 08, 2005
Wierd...
A friend told me that she decided to watch the show next week. But my first response was not what i expected. I didn't go 'yay!', but 'are you sure? really?'
Well honestly I really hope she's there for the show but I also hope that she's there becoz she wants to be there but not because I want her to.
hmm... hope i didn't sounding mean or what when persuading her to go watch the show.
Another fren, just couldn't make her to go watch the show.
She's just... haha!
I decided to give up now!
And the wierd thing is, I'm not disappointed that she's not goin. why? dunno? haha!
Well i guess that's because i treat different friends differently. anyway, who doesn't?!
Aih...
one more mid sem test to go before the break!!!
Had my first test for the semester today. It's a 20% test for Pathology! only 39 MCQs so that's more than 0.5% for each question!! That's a lot man!

Sunday...
Not studyin... listening to MayDay's songs loud...
Dunno why, just have this feeling of blasting songs, shouting loud!
Saturday, September 03, 2005
五月天
And found that their new songs are really good!!
Yay! haven't been listening to new songs recently. So... MayDay's are definitely the good ones.
Went our for dinner and then had pancake. Never realise that pancakes at the Pancake Parlour are actually quite nice. :)

Another Boo...
But during the genetics prac, the disastrous prac which requires us to isolate the salivary gland from the fly larva spoiled my mood.
then, got back my prac report... dont ask...
After the prac, kena ffk by someone. So went home straight after that.
And now, just had my dinner and an ice cream (something to cheer me up a little). Then, should start preparing for tmr's CAL then study for IBS...
aih... Hope tmr's CAL turns out ok, as in... I'll feel frustrated when ppl kept asking me abt something that I don't know. Mayb that's why my first physiology CAL was not a good one.

Boo...
1) couldn't eat anything really nice from the Feast of Nation today. Well, except for a bite of satay which i think it's quite good.
Well, my frens decided not to set up the stall today. so, we just went there to have a look around at other stalls.
2) Can't get any of the physiology books!! There're none in Brownless and Bailieu as well! I'm not quite sure if they were on the reserve rack in Bailieu, but i went there to have a look and there're none. :( Looked around all the tables in Brownless, all the trolleys but none... So, went back home straight after that disappointing book hunt in libraries.
Had been a good student since Monday, making sure i went through the lec notes for the day after finish classes or between lectures. :)
3) It started raining with strong wind blowing as soon as I got down from the tram!! And now, just not more than 10 mins after i got in, it's sunny again!
4) It's Thursday tmr!! Which means, i need to finish my prac report today! hmm... this doesn't mean that I hate pracs, but I don't like the preprac lec for Genetics prac and I don't like getting back my marked prac reports
But I enjoyed biochem prac. Don't mind writing biochem prac reports. :)
Thurs and Fri are the 2 days that i dislike most in the week. Why? coz i have pracs on those days, until 5pm. Plus now, I'm giving tution to a foundation student on Thursdays, which makes me even more hungry before i get home.

What's wrong with me?!
Am I forgotten by the ppl that I care abt?
Or am I asking for too much of attention?
Or they are just being considerate and think that I'm too busy to care abt other things that seemed 'less meaningful' to me?
Or I should ask myself: then what have u done to show that u care?
Or the first question I should ask myself is who do you think you are to have all these thoughts?!
Ya, I know that we all have our own life, our own circle of friends. But now we can't even share things that happen in the 交集 of our circles.
I'm just... speechless.

After all those 牢骚, let's get back to the real life...
Finally, got some soil for the only plant i have here.
and the price for that is: a pair of gloves, a stack of newspapers, few plastic bags, one hour off the afternoon, unfinished prac reports and a broken fingernail.
Had that pot of plant since last year when i moved in with JY.
and this is its 3rd 'house' so far (changed pots since it's growing up. haha!)
But it looks yellow and dry on its leaves. Hope it'll be back to green soon!!
Went for the MUOSS appreciation dinner last night.
well, it's well-prepared by the organizers, buffet style m'sian food.
Catch up with those I've met during the midyear orientation.
mayb coz I'm not a person who can just chat non-stop abt anything and everything.
But I enjoyed listening to ppl, contributing some of my opinion at times. :D
Oh well... need to head back to prac reports now!!
and Mid sem tests are coming!!!!
Looking forward to the Feast of Nations on tues and wed.
some frens are setting up a stall in the FON selling fried chicken (or curry chicken? hehe...sorry.. i forgot)!!
and I'm goin to join the fun on Wed!
So, please come to the stall ya!!
(wondering how many ppl will actually read my blog...)

What I'm up to now?
Although we're not that close, but still, feel quite sad and 不舍得 when heard that he's leaving on Wed, which is today!! Such a rush decision to us.
So the few of us from Trinity had lunch with him yesterday. Will miss him after he left...
All the best to you EikChin!! Hope to see u in Penang during CNY.
Aih... mid sem tests coming ar... sien...
have to study dee. i think i'm quite 'updated' to my lec notes lar, but not 100% yet. Still few lecs behind. I'll catch up soon! hopefully...
CTG production coming soon ar!
Anyone interested in watching?
16, 17, 22, 23, 24 Sep.
Come support lar!
I think the production in sem 1 next year will be my last production in uni since next year is my final year already. Hope it'll be another good one! Some ppl say, being part of a production is like another part-time job.
For me, being part of a production is like having another set of paint that make my uni life more colourful!

Out of The Tunnel...
It was a good ending for the production.
At home, after the post-production-dinner at 2.25am, feel a bit 空虚. Used to have rehersals and shows after uni till late at night...
now... go home after uni...
From hardly knowing anyone in the production, to knowing ppl even just their faces and names;
From being not sick, to getting sick, and to not-so-sick now...
Life is back to 'normal' again...
But I'm sure this won't be long. haha!
Coz CTG will have their show soon!!
And ya... another thing...
Don't u ever try putting muesli into your milo!
It really sucks!
haha!
Run out of milk at home ... so tried that just now... well, i'm still eating it though...
Monday, August 01, 2005
Hair cut...
It's nice and straight now... but it won't last long... :(
This is the thing that I hate most after goin to the hairdresser.
hmm.... makes me want to straighten my hair when i go back to KL. hehe!
Why cut my hair out of a sudden?!
ya... just decided to have one last night.
mayb coz 难得 today no rehersal, class finish early, so mar go cut lor. :D
Sunday, July 31, 2005
Good show!!
I think last night (the 2nd show) was the best performance by us sound team so far. yay!!
Oh ya... by the way, I was talking abt CMG's mandarin production: The Tunnel.
Come watch lar ppl!
I was 'officially' sick 2 days ago. And now, still sick, but 'different symptoms'.
Hope that I'll be fine before the last show, which is on the coming Sat.
4 more shows to go!
I guess I'll just need more sleep...
First week of uni wasn't too bad except that I don't undersand the gasatrointestinal lectures!
Hope that the textbook is enough for his section of the exam.
and this sem, both of my genetic and IBS prac partners are different from last sem, and even last year. Hope we'll do well in this sem together! And most importantly, have fun during pracs! :)
Pathology was so far.... okay lor... haven't got time to do the readings yet. But, 2 lecs a week should be ok to catch up really soon (after the coming Sat at least. hehe)
Sunday, July 24, 2005
today is the last day of winter break 2005. how sad... haha!
Came back from CTG camp this afternoon, so tired. But had fun lar!
Reached home at 12 something... after unpacking, went to vic mart to get lunch from McD and some food for the fridge. too lazy and tired to cook lunch for myself.
Felt relieved to eat something even like McD (not that McD sucks). haha!
and finally, made myself packing away notes and papers from 1st sem.
Didn't feel as sleepy as I was in the bus but I still went to bed and had a good sleep till 6.30 and woke up for dinner. :)
the conclusion for this holiday is...
did some sightseeing around Melbourne when my bro came for 2 weeks holiday, didn't read any books (which is sad...), went to camp, MUOSS midyear orientation, met many new ppl...
Hope i'll sleep early tonite... 9am lec tmr! (boo....)
another new sem begins... 2nd year 2nd sem...

。。。
At home...
Although during exam period, I'm usually at home the whole day, for few days, this is so different lar. haha!
And I think if i spend everyday like this, i'll be getting fatter and fatter. haha!
Eat, watch tv and dvd, sleep. 不肥都难啦! haha!
So, looking forward to going out tmr. yay!!

so happy today after the exam! haha
until now.. still happy!! haha!
And... another thing to be happy for is...
i went to hand in my resume for part time job today after the exam
and just now at around 10pm, when i'm watching my 'long-lost' CSI on tv, the person called me for interview on friday!
although it's just an interview... no guarantee yet.. but...
at least have chance mar right?! haha
coz i've given out a few resume last year but no reply from any of them at all!
But... the only thing i'm worrying abt is... the time commitment
not that i'll surely get the job.. but... still....
well, i'll tell him frankly what's my limit lor. hmm... hope they'll hire me lar
wish me luck!
any tips for work interview? anyone?
I never been to work interview before.

SWOT Vac!!
hm... SWOT Vac = swoting VACATION. a nice name which means it's time for us to burn midnight oil!!
Had my first 1500 words uni assignment this sem, just handed in last Tuesday, for our Biomed core subject.
after collecting info from books and few journals (just for the sake of pleasing the marker haha!), spent my whole 3 days writing the essay. Now I can feel how stressfull is it to write an 1500 words essay within the short time period. and can understand how is it like to rush for assignment till 4am.
A big solute to those ppl who can do it within one day!!
As a 'reward' after handing in the essay, went to chinatown for egg tart! haha! then met few frens there and decided to have late lunch together.
last Thursday... last test for this sem.
after the test, again... as a 'reward', went to chinatown (different shop) for egg tart with a fren! haha!
Looking forward for exam to end! Have lots of things to do!
Bros coming, so can travel around with him (or can be considered as bringing him around).
And I'm joining the MUOSS midyear orientation as a volunteer! Yay!
Hope it's fun! hehe!!
Ok, after all the 'day-dreaming'... need to get back to exam now...
One of our genetics lecturer, Len's part of exam is really really tough!!!
There are many things that I 'used to' understand.. but now, don't know them anymore!! Plenty to catch up! especially the past year ppr for his section, really scare me away!
Oh well... it's time to study now...
till here...
hope i'm not carried away by MSN... haha!
Sunday, May 15, 2005
Oh! Touchwood!
I'm a sets & backstage crew of the canto production. To be honest, this is the production that I enjoyed most (although this is just the 2nd production that i've taken part in). It turned out better than what I've expected.
Especially for those ppl who are having this year as their last year of uni, this production is really a good one! Everyone's having fun.
Being 'on duty' for some of shows is actually the time for me to relax. Coz don't have to think abt assignment and studies, but play cards and UNO. haha!
Hope that there's a next production for me to join and play.
Tired and sleepy now... came back not too long ago from the post-production dinner.
Going to sleep now... Tuesday have test ar! assignment also haven't done yet!
Tuesday, May 10, 2005
WHY?!
Being rejected for 2 of my 2 applications recently!
Well, being rejected for a reason... i can accept that...
But if being rejected without knowing the reason?!
WHY?!!
*speechless*

It's May!
Tests, assignment and CTG production!
hope i can cope well with all of those. aih...
I'm busy until forgot that my friends are goin to USA and didn't get the chance to say bye and safe journey to them. :( hm.... Anyway, they'll be fine... haha!
CTG's having 8 shows. I'm on duty as a backstage crew for 4 shows. It was fun though... hehe!
And tests.... IBS test again! the hardest subject for me this year. and some seniors said 2nd year is the toughest year.
plus IBS assignment! Who says Biomed ppl don't have assignment?! haha!
This is the first long essay for me since I went into uni. and I haven't started it yet! well, at least I've done my research so far. And on Friday, I was pissed by my 'unfriendly' tutor! Who didn't read my email properly, straight away refused to answer my email after he read my first sentence in that email. Even if he's not suppose to help me on my first question, he didn't bother to read the following enquiries that i have! Anyway, I emailed him again and he did answer.... but doesn't sound happy. haha! Or it's just me guessing?!
4 more weeks before my 1st paper in June! That's fast!! scary....
ok, need to go back to study now...
Thursday, April 21, 2005
I need sleep!
So this morning 8am lecture, I was totally can't concentrate on the IBS lecture!
It was so so very bad! Just tried all my best to scribble everything i can into my lecture notes. But nothing much went into my head. Missed so many things and things that i managed to write down were just crap!
Felt bad coz this lecture was not a boring one but I just couldn't make myself listen to him.
So, the moral of the story is.... I need sleep!
Anyways, the IBS prac today was quite ok. not a hard one though...
hmm... wat else..... feel quite happy today despite that early 8am lecture and then the boring 9am analytical chem lecture. haha!

Stranger?
I went down to the restaurant to buy my dinner. Met this girl who is also waiting to da pao her food... so we started to chat... from 'I can recognise you taking tram from the stop near our place (but I don't remember seeing her before)', 'where and wat are u studying?', 'where do u stay? (well, she stays in the same building as me)', 'wat's abt Biomed?' ...... to 'can i have your phone number?' ... that's the last question she asked me after my food was ready. After a short hesitation, i gave her my hp no and she misscalled me back so that i can hv hers too.
Have this strange thought about the incident...
she's a stranger!
will she do me any harm?
should i pick up her phone if she really calles me one day?
Wat do you think ppl?
Ian: I've got the post card you sent me! thank you very much! Wish I could go travel in Holland too!
but you still wrote my name wrongly!

I miss my high school life...
Good to catch up with you guys...
Had dinner with 3 other frens and my housemate at an Indian restaurant in Brunswick.
The food there was nice!
We ate until very full and now, my stomach is still very full. haha!
Just finish listening to a live radio thing online. The DJ was a senior from my high school. Although I don't know him in person, but sort of know who is he.
He's studying in Taiwan I think. So things he said online was pretty much wat we overseas students are thinking.... miss high school life! :(
Aih... monday uni starts again! duh... don't feel like goin to uni at all! haha
coz uni = study = tests = exam = stress... sien!
Anyway, this is life.. haha!

Yummy!
It was sooooooo yumm! Although the texture of the kuih wasn't right when it first came out from the steamer, it turned good after we put it into the fridge.
I just had one piece of it just now and it was even better! hahahaha!!! So happy! ;)

Easter break
Woke up at almost 1pm today.... thanks to daylight savings, I got to sleep for an extra hour. then, study till dinner time, watch DVD till 9pm....
play games for 'a while'... then online... then... dunno wat to do liao....
sien....
How come some ppl can have enjoyable, happening easter break. But i hvn't had any plans yet. is that a good thing? so that I can do watever i like anytime?
well, let the time prove everything...
I can hear the footsteps of winter ... it was only 5.30pm today and the sky was already dark. and the weather is getting colder... yesterday nite, the heater in my room already '重出江湖'. haha!

Lost and Found
Panic!
This morning, woke up at usual time, but without lagging here and there, i left home 30 mins after I woke up to uni to find my lost property.
Straight away into the lecture th... (wow! it was totally dark in there until I opened the lecture theatre door, and the lights were all on automatically!)
Disappointed.... nothing in the lec th...
went to union house information desk....
Disappointed.... no new found properties reported...
went to Biomed Library info desk....
Disappointed....
felt so down during throughout lecs and tute.... till 2pm... went to Microbiology building general office and asked....
Bingo! A lecturer found it and handed in to them.
The person there told me that I'm so lucky coz they haven't been recieving any lost properties for years!
haha... is that becoz i'm lucky or noone has been as careless as me for years?
Then, after thanking the lecturer by sending her an email... went home happily with my found property. haha!
Stopped by the mobile phone shop and asked if they got the dvd player in stock (that's free when I signed my hp plan but they din hv the stock that time)
So, lucky me! they've got it now! :)
Came home.... wanted to have some yoghurt and muesli as my lunch (at 3pm)...
found out that my yoghurt had expired 2 days ago... hmm... should i eat it?!

Moomba!!
The fireworks started at 9.30pm sharp but by the time we reached there at around 8.30, the grass lawn along the both sides of Yarra River was already packed with ppl, sitting on the grass, waiting for the firework to start. Lucky that we got a nice seat.
the firework lasted for 15 mins. I can't stress this enough that it was sooooo bloody good!! the firework was fired from 5 (I think) different platforms on the Yarra River. Everyone cheered when the first blast was fired. And we all clapped and cheered when it ended 15 mins later.
this is the best firework i've ever seen so far.. haha!
I'll definitely go for the next Moomba firework again next year, every year as long as I'm still in Melb.
Yup... I'm a 'firework person' since long ago. Always feel excited when watching firework during CNY. And always wish that I could watch those huge firework during New Year countdown at Sydney Harbour Bridge or the London Bridge with my own eyes (not through tv of course). haha!
After that, few friends came to my place, watched concert vcd and baked cake! haha!
It was 3 o'clock in the morning when we finally sit down, blow the candle (for some reason) and cut the cake together. haha! Crazy ppl!
Then chat... eat... chat... till 5 something am!
I slept at almost 6am this morning.
Woke up at 12 to go to the library to complete my prac prelabs for monday's prac.
I can 'conclude' that I had a good weekend. How bout u all? haha!
Today, after watching a small part of a tv programme, I 'learned' a 'fact' which is very true: Life is too short to wait.
I remembered that i heard from somewhere something like this...
a person has 24 hours a day to spend, after 8 hours or mayb less of sleep plus shower, toilet breaks, hanging around doin nothing, eat.... a person actually only have abt 2/3 of a day to spend on those 'useful & productive' stuff.
let's assume that a person can live till 90 years of age, but actually, he only lived for 60 years. If you cut off those days or years when you learned to crawl, walk, talk.... How many years in your entire life did you actually utilise properly? as in... you actually know wat u're doin, know how to spend ur life. and are you sure you can live till 90 years old?
Hm.... well, that makes me thing that life is really too short.
Wat do u think?
Saturday, March 12, 2005
Busy weekend
at night, went to the MCS 'dinner'. at 7pm.
the dinner was better than wat i expected.
come back .... reach home at 12 plus? i think....
dunno why... feel miserable now... sien...
ya.. by the way, heard that SPM result was out. wat abt STPM?
hope to hear from you guys who took STPM really soon.

Studie... again...
first week of uni had passed. well, not too bad 0verall. but still not used to it. Have to wake up so morning everyday.... 9am lec every day except thursday.... 8am!
and all those are IBS lecture! stupid ibs! haha... that's our biomed core subject by the way. so, no choice. have to do well too. :(
19 contact hours a week is a good thing for me. but, most of the slots are in between classes. so can't go anywhere or come back earlier except staying in the library in uni. so... hmm....
went to Ez's house-warming gathering today. a good location to stay. but... the lift wasn't working when i went there! haah... bad luck! luckily it was repaired before we left.

Hot summer day
pity that I still can't get back my own voice... coz talked too much in the airport... aih... actually it sounded much better that morning.. but.... ruined again...
the flight was full of ppl, especially students! it took me more than 3 hours to get home since the flight landed this morning.
just wish that i don't have to talk much tomorrow... can keep my voice for few days before class starts on monday!
Although I can't talk much, but I can still type here..haha
yesterday nite... left KL .... felt very sad when mum and dad each gave me a hug.... :'( althuogh this is the 3rd year coming over, the feeling is still about the same. aih....
as soon as I reach this 'home' in Melb, after putting down the stuff, take a good look around the apartment, then start vacumming my room, then switch on the com, online....
took a good shower.... it's a big hot day!!
After having my lunch (porridge cook by JY!!), started to unpack my stuff while chatting online.
now, finish all the unpacking, but left with stacks of clothes to be ironed!

it's 22nd today!
started packing yesterday... found that I couldn't manage to bring all the things that i want to. so, will leave some behind and ask bro to bring them over for me in July. yup... he's goin to melb during my winter break. yay! hehe....
well, everything's been fine with me here.. except having bad throat infection.. that's wat the doctor said to me this morning. aiyo... it's good that this happen at the end of CNY so that I won't miss all the CNY yummies... but it's bad to have it now coz i'm flying off tomorrow!
anyway... hope it turn better tomorrow.
k, since can't check my complete timetble yet, gonna offline and continue to watch the HK series loh... the last 2 episode of the total of 42.. hehe... that's part of my entertainment at home in this holiday... this is my 3rd HK series that i've watched, dled from someone.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Happy CNY to all of u!!
yup, went to Penang, my hometown for 5 days, collected angpaos, ate lots of junk food, play mahjong, met cousins and other relatives... this is how i spent my time in Penang.
It's quite suprise that there aren't many cars and ppl in Penang until the 3rd day of CNY. which is quite unusual. coz usually duing CNY, Penang will be crowded... cars and ppl everywhere... traffic jam... but this year, not that bad until 2nd or 3rd day of CNY.
Came back from Penang on friday, after giving JY a visit.
today, went to visit some of my dad's friends and relative. and at nite, went to meet up with SinYee, and said bye to her before she go to S'pore. 'Take care ya! see you again at the end of this year!'
less than 2 weeks, goin to melb dee...

Take care!!
Surprisingly (to me)... i felt sad to leave NIE, and all the ppl there...
before that, i always looked forward to weekends coz don't need to work... but now... haha..
And today, there is another poly-student who came to attach in the lab, had her last day in NIE too. so Irene gave 2 of us a 'speech' on behalf of prof who is too busy..haha... she talked abt her experience she went through in the life science pathway... made me think quite a lot abt my own future. I even questioned myself whether Biomed is the right thing for me! anyway, I still don't have the answer.
Oh ya... we observed the results from the experiment that we did on Wed. It was...well, not too successful but we still manage to get one positive result, out of the 5 that we did. can feel the happiness and (some) satisfaction when we saw the +ve result. well, the 'some' for me is coz... mayb coz the experiemnt.. although is interesting, fun, but not that 'big' to me. so.... hmm...am i sounding too.... having too high expectation?! yaya... i know... i'm only a first year kid... can't expect something too big right?!
at abt 1145pm, 7 of my frens in NTU brought supper to my place. this might be the last time i see them before i go back to Melb in Feb. dunno when will i see them again.... end of the year? next year? few years later? ten years later?! who knows?
after one month i've been staying in S'pore....
I think that...well, S'pore is quite a nice place to stay... despite the fast pace of this city-like country. and so far, ppl that i've met here are nice (well, not that i've met many new ppl), not as bad as wat i expected.
other than that... if compared to those studying in other overseas countries, S'pore uni students (who are fighting to stay in the campus) are packed with activities everyday! that's why when i saw them, i think they all became much thinner than they used to be in high school... (not like me...aih)
as for my high school frens in S'pore.... some of you had changed ... some are still the same old you ....
although we din manage to get together too often when I'm here, i know that you all had tried the best to make time out to get together. thank you all!
Thanks for all the time we spent together, even like having lunch in can A for that short while, or sometimes when you all are chatting in those short forms that i don't really understand (well, another thing i found out abt the ppl here is that they like to use short forms).
well, take care you guys! eat more arr! Study hard and play hard! till the day we meet again...

I've learned my lessonssss
firstly, learned that Malaysians can only stay in S'pore for not more than 14 days with the normal visitor pass. secondly, learned that read the protocol carefully! Every single word counts!
Well, went to the Immigration and checkpoint authority office today to settle my problem, paid fine, wrote a 'I regretted that....' letter. Then... phew.... feel much better now.
before that, in the morning, I was doing plasmid extraction from E.coli . and because of my carelessness, i ruined the whole thing! after someone's hard work of inserting the gene, transforming, and growing the bacteria, all gone.. because of ME!! felt so sorry about that! the thing is... can't repeat the whole thing again coz no more genome to be used! :(
Anyway, the person incharge in the lab is so nice that she din scold me at all! she explained to me and let me do another batch of plasmid extraction.
so sorry to the proff that brought the genome back from some other country.
well... last Sunday, me and 4 other NTU friends went down to Chinatown (they call it niu2 che1 shui3 in chinese) to meet other friends from NUS.
It was so crowded and packed with CNY stuff! U can really feel that CNY is just around the corner! all the stalls are so red!
then we had lunch there at a food court. I had loh bak (hope you guys know wat's that... well, cherry actually said that she actually din know wat that is) and ais kacang. yum.... never been eating those for almost a year already!
later, went to this cake and dessert shop recommended by SiaoBoon. we all bought ourselves egg tart there. another yummy thing that i wanted to eat so much! haha... in melb, it's AUD1.20 per egg tart, and it's S$0.60 for one here! such a big difference! and the egg tarts in that shop have the special pastry... the thicker ones that looks as if have many layers (hope it's well described. haha).
after that, walked pass this stall that sells 'bing1 tang2 hu2 lu2'... the one we always see ppl eat in those HK movies arr... 4 reddish fishball-like thing on a satay stick that kind leh.... haha...
anyway, it doesn't taste as good as we expected. but, that's experience.. haha!
then went back after looking into some of the shops. oh ya... we who came back to NTU ate the egg tart at MRT station. haha! Yummy!! I want more!!

Durian heads
So, this morning, went to visit my friends' halls and their rooms in NTU
then after lunch, went to the Esplanade.... that's where the 'durian heads' are.. haha!
It's actually an architecture...like Sydney has its Opera House; S'pore has this Esplanade 'durian heads' haha! there are 2 of them! the 2 durian looking things on a not too tall (4 storeys high) theatre building. so, u can imagine... 1 durian... super huge ones... cut into half.... one half placed on the left, the other on the right... haha!
and it's silver colour. it looks even nicer in the night, when u can see lights coming out from the inside... .coz under the thorns of the durian are transparent glass (or fibre material?).... cool right? haha!
and around the esplanade, there are 5 huge black statues by Botero...who is a Colombian sculptor and painter... each of them are abt 1.2ton, made of bronze.
So, it's 21st of Jan now! abt one more week i'll be back in KL. and abt one more month from now i'll be back in Melb! How fast!!!

It's my B'day!
Happy b'day to me,
Happy b'day to Sze Chern,
Happy b'day to me....
haha! yup, today's my b'day! (same day as JayChow by the way) and oh no... i'm ?? years old now! aih... time flies... (that phrase again)
last nite at 10 plus, when I was watching tv, my big bro called and said happyb'day to me... :) 'WHERE'S MY PRESENT?!' (anyway, anyone who have any suggestion of wat i should ask from him for my b'day... pls tell me.. haha..thanks!)
at around 11, one of my sec school frens in NTU called me out for supper... but it's too late dee, so with certain reason, can't make it ... although i wish that i could go with them
then later at 11 plus, someone pressed the doorbell... and there they are! 13 of them outside my door, with a b'day cake, a b'day card, a b'day gift, and 13 smiley faces! haha! How nice of them!
Well, ya... this is the first time that i cut my b'day cake at tepat-tepat 12 midnite! Wow.. is that a new history?! haha! and since last year i din have any b'day cake for my b'day... i felt even happy for this b'day!!
Thank you very much!! You guys are so nice!
and the thing is... most of them are having 8.30am class the next day... and KH haven't even prepare for his presentation tomorrow.
a fren who went to study in Taiwan (but she's now in KL) even manage to get my hp no in S'pore and sent me b'day greetings....
then, they left at one something... after chatting, eating (my b'day cake), taking photos...
then when I was on my bed.... thinking back those moment.... and having thought that... I've been on this world for ?? years!! aih.... really.... 'old' liao lar... haha! well, i don't mean to offend those who are older than me... hehe!
and so sorry that i can't have dinner with u guys today coz promise my aunt to have dinner with her dee... anyway, sure have to go for dinner together with u all before i go back to KL!
ok....till here....

A trip to Orchard
Well, before that, my best sec school fren came over to my aunt's place to overnite. she came at 12 something... and we chatted till 3 plus ... Long long time din chat with her (face to face) dee...
Then on sat morning, there's this 3 on 3 basketball match goin on in NTU SRC (Sports and Recreation Centre). My frens are playing. So I went to watch despite the 'looks like goin to rain but turn out very sunny' weather. But I left before they got into semi-final.... and they got second! Congrats! it was really a good game.
Then at 2pm, met SinYee and she went out together with me and my aunt... sat this long long bus and mrt and got down at Bishan (which took us 1.15hours) and went to this shopping mall called Juncti8n (they call it junction 8). then at nite, went to Orchard road to see the CNY decoration. aih... wanted to see the christmas decor but it's too late... they've changed into CNY's... :( many many many ppl in Orchard! actually it feels like u're in KL city centre but only that KL has more malays while in Orchard, most of them are chinese.
then, went back to NTU campus at 9 something after another long mrt journey.
and... that's my day!

I'm in S'pore
now, here i am ... in s'pore since 31st Dec 2004... and it's 2005 now! so fast man!
Ok, so.. for now, i'll be working here till end of the month. Will be goin back to KL on the 30th Jan.
I work from 9am to 5pm, Mon to Fri. but not really ends at 5pm everyday, coz have to clean up and stuff... and we have unfixed lunch time everyday as well... coz it depends on the things we're doin.
At first, I was working in this lab... doing soil analysing... like... find out is there certain different bacteria in certain soil that affect the growth of the vegetation or wat.... There are also 4 other polytechnic students who are on their attachment in that lab. Polytechnic in S'pore is like... college in M'sia i think... at the end of the course, u'll not get degree but only a diploma. My first day of work (3rd Jan) is super sien!! just help them to fill empty bikar (dunno how to spell in english) with disposable pipet tips so that can be brought to the autoclave machine to be sterilised. Anyway, i went there first day after my lunch... so first day of work wasn't that long.
My second day was not too bad... got to know them better....there are..... few ppl in that lab... one PhDstudent (who is basically the 'head' in the lab, besides her supervisor who is the proff that i got my job from), and the 4 attachment students, and another master student. They are all friendly, especially the 4 attachment students. well, the PhD person is a bit... well, not that fun lar..haha! But later one... I found out that... she's not that bad to get along with...anyway, learned quite many things there... see how they prepare the gel for electrophoresis (err.. means... the gel to run the DNA on... know what i mean? saw those strips on a film on tv? that's a 'photo' taken on the gel after running the DNA on the gel).... and found out that they can actually search the posibilities of organisms (bacteria or watever) by entering the DNA sequence into the net (a specific one lar) and click 'Blast'... then there wil be a list of those possiblities. haha! Hope it doesn't sound too confusing.
But 3rd day onwards... I moved to another lab... a molecular genetic lab.
There're only 3 ppl (including me) working in this lab. one is the PhD student, and another guy who is like me... on holiday, so come to do 'volunteer work' in the lab.
Well, wat we doin here is ... orchids, and lettuce.. haha! for the passed 2 days, I did tissue culture, which is went into a tissue culture room, and transfer the small little tiny orchids from their flask into another flask. Ohya... before that, have to prepare the medium for the to grow on in the conical flask. It's called the banana media.. haah! obviously, ya.. u're right... the medium contains banana. interesting right?! haha! and today, din do much things before lunch time, just helped to put back the cleaned, dried conical flasks... cut the foils (for wrapping purposes in the future use). then after lunch, grined the lettuce and add methanol (an alcohol).. blah blah .... as a part of some extraction (or abstract?) to be done tomorrow. So, basically, that's it in the lab for the time being. Although there're only 3 of us in this lab, i'm quite happy with it.. coz the PhD lady here is more friendly..haha!
And since 3 of us are or used to study in Australia, we had some common topic during lunch time.
And yesterday.... there's another new (well... he's new to me) guy came (came back) to work in the lab. Plus today, 2 ppl from the first lab i worked in came over to use the stuff here... so today, our lab is quite crowded...haha
and the 'new guy' is trying to find males whose sir name is Tan to do some research. so, anyone (male) willing to 'donate' some of their cells? pls inform me...haha!
And..ya... abt my fren (SinYee).... she actually thought that she met the wrong person that day when I saw her (and she saw me) in NIE. haha...
aih... should have went to her room on Monday (her b'day) and give her a big surprise. well, I din do that... i just sms her at 12 plus on sunday midnite and said that i'm here in s'pore...aih.... ruined all my 'hard work' haha!
anyway, went to her hall and met her on Monday after my dinner... chat a bit... then came back to my aunt's place with the last internal bus in NTU.
k, till here... my eyes are half closed now...
nite...

Is this life?
These few days, there're pics... sad pics all over the paper.
On the other hand, when seeing helpful hands giving water and medical needs to those affected area, I feel relieved... touched... If every country can always help each other without hoping for return, how good!

Back at home...
Finished watching a 22 part HK series.
Din really go shopping yet, well, bought a shirt yesterday from 1U.
So far, haven't met any friends. Wan Yen's the first person who called me since i'm back. Thanks fren!!
Few things at home had changed... Well, just some minor ones.
But dad looks thinner than before.
This few days, at home, watching movie, eat... nothing much goin on yet. But will ask some old friends out for a chat or so. Long time no see...

Not my 'type'
Trip to Sydney
Day 1 (11th Dec)
Arrive in Sydney airport on 8.20 am, after a 1hr 20mins flight from Melb.
Checked into a hotel (which is the crappiest hotel I've ever stayed).
Well, it's a 2 star hotel, a small un-vacuumed room with 2 single beds, small fridge, old crappy cupboard, 2 chairs, 2 bedside tables. Had to share toilet (without any hooks to hang clothes or what) with other rooms.
anyway, we survived! haha.
Took a walk to Paddy market (short for Paddington Markets). It's .... a market loh..haha... with vegie, fruits, meats, fish, and other dry-non-food stuff. Much smaller than Victoria market. Chinatown is just nearby the market. The market only opens from Thurs to Sun.
Then, walked to Darling Harbour, saw children performing christmas show. being asked for a 15 mins-survey abt darling harbour.. tourism things....
Visited the Maritime Museum, where all the navy stuff in there... including their clothes they wore since.... dunno when..haha... and the ships, a huge anchor.... Free admission!
Then, had lunch in Queen Victoria Building. QVB is a famous place on Syd, for it's an old shopping place, with very nice christmas decoration, a very huge, 3 (or 4) level-high christmas tree in there... Walked around QVB, parks and other places in the town.
Went to Darling Harbour again at night, to see the lights, very beautiful view! And to listen the carols by the christmas tree. The christmas feel is so nice... since it's a saturday night, many ppl there, in the pubs, restaurants, parties, fuctions. While we're sitting on the floor, around the stage where 3 ppl singing christmas songs.
Day 2
To Paddy market. Took a bus to Bondi Beach. Good weather for a swim, but I didn't.haha! Lots and lots of ppl at the beach! So hot!!! There's a arts and crafts market at Bondi.
Back to the city after lunch. Went to the Rocks, where many restaurants and pubs are. And as arts and crafts market (only open on sat and sun).
Walked around the Circular Quay. Took pics of the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge... Saw many street performances. Which is really enjoyable! haha! Well, that's one thing i like to do in Syd in this trip.
Had dinner in a Japanese restaurant. Really small, but good food.
Then, me and my aunt walked to Darling Harbour (again)... for the Christmas Carol by the Christmas tree. different ppl singing tonight. 4 ladies... even better than the 2 guys and 1 woman last night. Enjoy... nice songs with nice view, and a Starbucks peppermint mocha with cream. Yumm!!! It's a limited edition.. only around christmas time.
Day 3
After breakky, bought a Daytripper ticket, which enables me to travel unlimited time of bus, ferry and train within a day.
Me and my aunt went on a ferry, took a round from the Circular Quay, to Milsons Point, McMahons Point, Darling Harbour , Pyrmont Bay and then the reverse route back to Circular Quay. Took nice pics of Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the ferry. Nice ferry trip...
Then, went on another ferry to Manly. nice wind on the ferry... It's a small town, with bay, beach (Manly Beach), houses....
On our ferry back to Circular Quay, it started raining. almost every ppl on the deck with camera busy taking photos..haha. The view of the dark clouds on the Sydney highrise.
Went to the Olympic Park by train. rain kept falling then stop, then fall again....
Nothing much in the Olympic Park. That's where 2000 Olympic was held. outside the Telstra stadium, there're many poles, with all the atheletes' name on.
After taking pics, back to the city... dinner time at 8.30pm
No more carols at Darling Harbour. So we actually dicided to go to the Opera House to see the night view. But after dinner, it's almost 930 already. So, headed back to the hotel after dinner at Chinatown.
Day 4
Last day in Syd! Can't wait to go 'back' to Melb! Well, Syd is not that bad, it's just... I prefer Melb.
Walked to Opera House. On the way, passed by Parliment House. Went in... took photos... That's where the NSW parliment hold their meetings and stuff....
I went into the Legislative Assmply Chamber (where the lower house hold their meetings). I sat on the chair for the Serjeant-at-Arms (the one who control the meeting) and took a photo.hehe... Visitors are not allowed to sit on the speaker's chair though.
Then, actually, we planned to walk across the Harbour Bridge. But too hot and too lazy to do so.haha!
So we went for lunch, then me and 3 of them split to our ways... they wanted to go to have a look at Kingcross. That's the 'red-light centre' in Syd. While I wonder around in Syd city.
Saw a few street performances, like the 2 guys playing guitar and drum, singing. Like those Hawaiian feel punya songs.... haha
After dinner, to the airport... back to Melb at abt 21.45
Well, Sydney is much busier than Melb. I think that the roads, public transport are not as in good order than in Melb. Or mayb that's coz i'm used to Melb? But the ppl there are not as friendly as in Tas and Melb. Hmm....
Navigator on board...
Overall, the trip was not too bad. But if you are a city person, I don't think u'll enjoy Tasmania. Coz it's more of nature, scenery... I went with my aunt and 2 of her friends. We only went to the East part of Tasmania. Oh ya... in case you're wondering where's Tassie, it's an island located SouthEast of Australia.
3 of them took turns to drive around while I was the navigator... the one reading maps and telling which way to go, which corner to turn... So, didn't really get to sleep during the journey... not an easy job though.
And also... skin got darker after the trip!
on this trip, we saw many... more than 20 dead animals on or by the road, mainly possums (I think, coz can't really tell them apart).
And also, saw big open area with sheep, cows, horses......
Day 1 (5th Dec)
Arrived in Hobart at 8.10am after a 1hr flight from Melbourne.
Pick up a rented car (Kia, Rio, silver) from the airport
Drove to Port Arthur abt 1.5 hr from airport.
Port Arthur was established in 1830 as a convict timber station to produce material for Government projects. It bacame a prison settlement for male convicts and was intended to provide severe punishment for repeat offenders. By 1840, there were over 2000 convicts and staff in Port Arthur. The settlement closed in 1877 after abt 12000 sentences had been served here. During the next 2 decades, a number of the settlement's buildings were pulled down or destroyed by fire.
We had a 40 mins historic walking tour which explained to us the key aspects of Port Arthur's history. After that, went on a 20 mins Harbour Cruise which passes the dockrards, Point Puer boy's prison site and the Isle of the Dead. The cruise was nice. Strong wind plus strong sun. Isle of the Dead is where the majority of convicts and ex-convict paupers were buried in mostly umarked graves on the power part of the island. The graves of free ppl were on the higher part of the island and marked by headsontes cut by the convict stonemasons.
Walked around Port Arthur, visited and took pics of the Convict Church, the Commandant's House, the civilians' houses, Guard tower, The penitentiary...
On our way back to Hobart to check in to the apartment, went for a nice view at blow hole and the Fossil Cliff.
After dinner (instant noodles with eggs and vegie), drove to the casino. Which is kind of a lousy one compared to that in Melbourne. haha!
Day 2
Abt 35 mins drive to Huonville. Visited a few places near that area. Such as the Enchanted Woods, which is a craft shop; Tahune Forest Reserve for the 50 mins return Airwalk (walk through the canopy on a 'trail' built high up).
On the way back from Airwalk to the Huonville, we went to see the Australia's biggest tree, and some lookout points. Took some photos with 'our car' at a nice lookout place. haha!
Back to Hobart, drove around the city, then to a small town called Richmond, which is abt 25km from Hobart. Richmond is just a small, quite town. Australia's oldest bridge is there, dated 1823. The oldest church is there as well.
Day 3
After checking out from the apartment before 10am (that's the rule in Aus), set off to Claremont, only abt 15 mins drive from the apartment. What's in Claremont?! The Cadbury factory! Had a tour, which brought us around the factory, 'picked up' 17 chocolates along the tour. haha! Freshly made... yumm!! All the chocolate there are not stored in the factory for more than 24 hours. They're exported to Melb than to other places (not sure about other countries). The cocoa they used came from Gana (if i'm not wrong), which has the best quality cocoa, Malaysia and another country which I can't remember. The best quality cocoa is used to make dark chocolate.
And chocolate which is exported to hotter asian country, is not as 'pure' as those sold in Aus itself coz they have to add stabilizer (or something like that) so that it won't melt so easily.
After the tour, bought some chocolate back.
Then, on our way to Coles Bay, which is abt 3 hrs drive from Hobart.
Went pass another small town called Sorell. Went to a Cherry n berry farm. Plucked a container full of Cherries, rasberries, longanberries, apricot (or issit called peach?)...
Then stop by a small town called Swansea. Nothing much there, took some photos of the beach there.
After that, went to a disappointing route... From the map, there's a waterfall not far away.... so follow the road... but it's soooooo deep into the forrest along the small road, where no other cars passed by. which is scary coz it's getting dark somemore. So when we get to the dead end for the car, have to get down and walk through the woods to see the waterfall. We didn't walk coz scared will get lost in the woods. haha! So, feel bad about that, coz I was the one who brought us there but see nothing.
After checked into a cabins with 2 rooms, kitchen, bathroom... went for dinner at a fish n chip shop. Then, walk along the coast waiting to see the sunset on the horizon. But... the sun set behind the mountains! haha!
At night, 4 of us sat down and drank red wine. Couldn't finish that bottle though. haha! coz everyone's tired... someone even got drunk! haha! and also, they had to drive the next day.
Day 4
Check out from cabins
To the Frycinet National Park where the famous Wineglass Bay is.
Parked our car then have to walk for about 30mins to reach the lookout point, and abt another 45 mins to get down to the bay.
The walk is so tiring! Up and down on the rocks... Especially when coming back up from the bay. really... burn up almost all my fats!
Then at the carpark, saw a wild kangaroo with a little joey in her pouch.
After that, went to another 2 lookout point in the Frycinet National Park to see the light house and the bay.
Continue the journey to Lauceston, which is abt 3.5 hours from Coles Bay. Stopped by Campbell Town on the way. Saw this 'gadget' where you can calulate when will the venus (or issit mars?) will pass by the sun.
Arrived Lauceston, checked in. We stayed in a nice heritage motel. Each room has a name. The room I'm in is the Gun Room, which was said on the black heavy dungeon-like door. And in the room, even the toilet, chairs... is so.... heritage. There's a nice big windmill at the hotel area too.
Went for a walk in Lauceston city, had dinner, then walked along the Cataract Gorge which connects to the Tamar River. Nice view.
Wow... had many walks today. Tired...
Day 5 (9th Dec)
Had nice breakfast at the small restaurant opposite our room.
Set off to the Bridestowe Lavender farm!!! That's the largest lavender estate in the Southern hemisphere which has that particular species of lavender. (well, there're many types of lavender).
Had a short tour, explained how the flower bud is seperated and the oil extracted. Rupa-rupanya, only like.... 10% of the total weight of the plant is the bud, which is useful to extract the oil and make other stuff.
Had a lavender icecream... actually it's a vanilla ice-cream, with a lavender fudge and sprinkled with lavender loolies.
Before heading back to Lauceston city, went to the Tamar Valley, visited Hillwood Strawberry Farm, Fruit Wine & Cheese Centre. We din have time to pick our strawberries though. Bought a bottle of strawberry wine.
Hang around in Lauceston city till dinner time...
Back to Melbourne at 22.35
As soon as I'm back... Check my results!!! waited till abt 2.30 am for the results
Friday, December 03, 2004
The journey begins...
Ballarat is a town which is abt 2 hours from the city. Sovereign Hill resembles the gold mining era at Ballarat in the 1850s. It was quite an interesting place to visit.
There were shops such as the bakery, the pottery, library, schools, small chinese village ... set up like in the 1850s, they even have people working there (as in, walking around), wearing costumes like those in the 1850s.
We went to see the gold pouring show. The guy (blacksmith) showed us how those ppl back then make those 99.99% pure gold bricks.
We played bowling there as well. It's a wooden ball and have 9 (i think) wooden pins. and the bowling alley is soooo much longer than those mordern ones. So, the ball i threw... stopped just right before it hits those pins! aih... haha! Didn't have lunch before that maybe?! haha!
So after that, we had lunch we packed at the bowling place.
The day trip started at 8.45am, arrived at Sovereign Hill at 11am.
The coach driver was also our tour guide. He didn't show us around Sovereign Hill though, coz we just walked around by ourselves using a map.
But he explained about Ballarat and everything we came across along the journey.
We went to the gold museum as well. But, well, it's a bit disappointing to me. Coz nothing much to see there. Not to say not interesting, but not much stuff there.
we left Sovereign Hill at 3.30pm, back in the city at 5.15
