Get to know yourself better

a quiz i saw from frens' blogs: http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx

Your view on yourself:
You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:
Your have very sensible tactics when approaching the opposite sex. In many ways people find your straightforwardness attractive, so you will find yourself with plenty of dates.

Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

hmm... quite true... wat do u think?
gosh! it's 10.30am and i'm sitting here in the office doing nothing. >.<
everyone else in this lab has gone to some complusory lab safety seminar which will go on till an hour later. ppl from the lab next door all went for their lab meeting. so i'm really bored, nothing to do! wish i can go home then come in again at 4pm to finish up some stuff which i can't do right now.

two more days to go and that's the end of my summer studenthip.
was doing some reading last night for my honours project. seems more and more interesting to me. :) kind of looking fwd to it now but not the work load.

well, it's going to be a really challenging year ahead for me, with this 9 month intensive honours project and 4 months of CTG which can be fun and also stressful.
wish me luck! :)

i'm thinking of changing my blog address. any suggestion?

Australia Day

yday was a good day for me :)
it was Australia Day. although i'm still not very sure wat's the history behind this day, but some ppl said it's a day when Australia was declared as a country, some ppl said it's a day for ppl to celebrate for Australia.
anyways, me, SuangSuang, ChorTeck, HweeNgee and Alan went to the ppl's march in the morning at Swanston St. not many organisation took part, but it's quite interesting to see the different culture in Aus, Melb.
then we walked down towards Alexandra Gardens, de tour to the food court at South Yarra for lunch. watched a street performance there after lunch, when bird poo dropped on my arm! >.<
and I stepped on the muddy grass outside National Art Gallery with my slippers on (luckily i didnt' wear my near shoe!).

Activities at Alexandra Gardens are mostly for kids. eg rock climbing for kids, playground for kids, kite drawing, Melbourne Fire Brigade (MFB = My F***ing Balloon says ChorTeck! haha! MFB were giving out balloons, posters and wristband that day)

we all went home for some rest before meeting up again (without Alan) for dinner and fireworks.
So i went home to reinstall english version of win and it works :) so now this new cpu is pretty much set up. except that i couldn't get my songs back from the old HD :( and good that i burned my photos onto the cd before i left for home in dec.

the fireworks were at Alexandra Gardens, Fed Sq and Eureka tower. we were at the princess bridge (i think it's called) watching the fireworks. Not as spectacular as Commonwealth games (of course lar) but quite nice also. :)

watched a bit of the Australia Open women's single final just now.
Serena Williams won the match. i teared when she's giving her speech at the presentation. I hope that one day i can also be on a big stage thanking my parents, and make my parents feel proud of me. :)

and those interviews after each tennis match are actually my fav part of these tennis matches :)

hate this! hate not being able to do things i want to do for some other reason. >.<
i want my old cpu back! should hv just spend that $450 to get it fixed, and everyone's happy again.
when i was putting the old cpu into the box... i felt like i was putting someone close to me into the coffin! *touchwood!

felt dumb again

I did something wrong in the lab today. :(
it was a mistake that a person with 'common sense' shouldn't make!
i pippetted 850uL of water into the mixture instead of the 85uL that i need in a staining process. my supervisor found out about that after 45 mins of heating the mixture in 37C
so had to redo the thing. hope it wont affect the staining. so much effort had been put in to do the dissection, staining, overnight staining...

and yday, i had to ask my supervisor to show me how to calculate the volume i need to make up a solution. felt so dumb abt this! i learned it in first year uni. and now i've graduated from my ugrad. i should know how to do it! >.<
well, i learned from my mistakes.

and finally, i got my new cpu and everything's up and running. can online liao.
BUT i'm using a chinese version winXP that i managed to borrow from a fren.
so i'm looking for an english version winXP so i have to unistall and reinstall it again.
i guess i shouldn't pick on whether the version i'm using is genuine or not? but imitated version restricts me from upgrading my software.
but then i'm not sure if i'm able to activate and upgrade stuff when i'm using a genuine cd since the owner of that cd had installed it into his/her own comp.

my suckkie weekend!

my compie broke down on fri nite :(
that's why i'm sad, misrable and depressed since then (not 24 hours lar... but on and off lor)
aih.... that is how important my compie to me. i knew abt that since first year, when my laptop broke down one night. gosh! they all happened at nite!! >.<
but this time, i handle my sadness in a more mature way i guess. at least i din cry this time :P
so i brought my compie to a comp shop along latrobe and they'll only check on it on Monday!! >.< pray hard nothing major happen to it and it'll be home on monday.

luckily my dad's fren came to pick up something from me so they drove me to the shop on sat morning. and since it's on latrobe st, it's not that hard to carry it back next time i guess.
the prob with my compie is... some dunno wat 'resolution prob', something to do with the display card my bro said.
i rang the Compaq technical support on sat morning. they can try to troubleshoot it for me through the phone for $46, but with no guarantee to fix the prob. so i decided to bring it to the shop instead.

so sat... hving nothing to do at home, after watching Power Rangers and another kiddie show in the morning, and falling asleep when watching tennis on tv after coming back from vic mart, went out SheeChien the whole afternoon till after dinner.
we went to dfo on Spencer, then Smith Street, then back to the city Melb central, then dinner, then asian grocery shopping, then safeway, then home...
so sad and reluctant to go home. coz i'll see that empty slot which is where my CPU suppose to be.
watched some tv shows, and 1 JayChow's concert vcd (thank goodness i hv that vcd!!), went to bed.
coz without comp, i can't watch my drama series, no music to listen to (currently only hv less than 10 songs in my mp3 player), so wat else can i do?!
i dont like to read, and i dont read.
i dont feel like reading the paper for my honours project (yet).
no digital piano to play! yes!! that's also one thing i've thought of since this 'incident'... i really want a digital piano! :P

today... sunday... watched some tv in the morning, went to city, smith street (got a pair of shoes at last), back to city (bought shoe laces and really nice photo frames! :) ). all these did cheer me up a bit until.... after taking passport size photos for my visa application in a photo machine in melb central. >.< that really ruin my mood!
1) the photos came out still wet! so one of the sides of the photos are out of shape coz it was still wet when i held it with my fingers.
2) the colours are super pale
3) i wasn't prepared yet for the first shot (there are 4 shots altogether) so that one look really bad
so my $7 and effort all gone for nothing!

now i'm in the 24 hours comp lab in uni. wish i stay really near uni so that i can stay in this comp lab till before bedtime.
i'm goin to transfer more songs to the mp3 player from the external hard disk (luckily i hv them in there!)

aih....
weekends suppose to be happy,
weekend is wat i've been looking fwd to since monday!
but this weekend really sux! >.<

congrats!

a high school class mate is getting married in feb 2007!!!
i was really shocked when her husband-to-be told me that on msn. :D now i understand why wedding invitation card is also called the 'pink bomb' in chinese.
really want to congrat them! too bad i can't be there for their wedding, and also my very first: fren's wedding. they're together for 6 years (or more?) since high school. so happy for them :)

hm... for a girl, getting married at 22 years old is too early lor i think. dont ask me when will be the right time... i dunno...

today, learned a new thing in the lab. :)
that is... taking picture of the flies' eyes with the microscope that has camera with it.
but then, i think most of the pics i took are not in focus enough :( hope i dont hv to redo them tomorrow.

oh well.. time for bed lar. wanted to sleep before 11pm today but now.. .it's 11.41pm :P

2nd day back to work

i'm back in melb again... after only 2 weeks home. :(
so sad and reluctant to come back here.
miss home now...
but wat to do? can only 'blame' myself for applying this summer job.

and guess wat?
today, i talked most among the 2 weeks of my working life in PeterMac , well, conversation with the other summer student in the same lab doesn't count lar.
coz today, met 3 new ppl. they're not new in the lab but they are new to me.
the first person is the girl who works part time as a research assistant in the same lab i'm working in,
the 2nd person is a taiwanese guy (but he can't really speak mandarin) who is a RA in another lab,
the 3rd person is a girl who is also working as an RA in a cancer immunology lab whom I met during lunch time in the tea room up stairs. :)
among this 3 person, the last 2 was biomed student from melb uni. after honours, they've been working in Peter Mac for like 2 or 3 years. one of them is planning to move on to do PhD.
so here i thought.... what am I going to do after my hons? be an RA like them for the rest of my life? or do a PhD after working a few years as an RA? or do a PhD straight after my hons? seems like those are the only 3 possibilities so far. and they all depends on whether i can get a scholarship to do PhD or not, and also if i like doing it.

and today, learned some new stuff in the lab. :) but i'm still dealing with flies >.<

on my way home from work, got SheeChien's sms, so went to her place for dinner. :)
yummy! they cooked crab, pineapple fried rice, chicken salad with a peanut dressing, stirfried broccolli with beaf, and for dessert - black glutinous rice with mango! :P

so... working life is like this can be very boring.
wake up at 7.30am,
9am - 5pm work,
go home for dinner, maybe hang around in the city for awhile before going home?
online, msn, check emails,
watch drama series or watever,
sleep before 12pm.
the cycle just goes round and round for 5 days in a week.

so... those who are still studying in uni, u better enjoy ur uni life as much as you can!

:)

wah! as soon as i pressed 'publish post' for the previous entry, the international admissions office called me and said she'll email the letter to me now. and rupa-rupanya the letter should hv been sent to my melb address before new year.
so anyhow, now, i can't do anything including my body check up which is like 10 times more expensive in melb. i have to apply my visa while i'm back in melb now. :( sien....

argh!!!

ARGH!!! I'm very frustrated abt this comp at home!!
always hang,
cannot sign in to MSN, e-Buddy also cant,
sometimes will restart by itself,
then after pressing that restart button, it can't connect to the hard disk, so the whole comp can't start! >.<

stupid computer!!!

and i still havn't receive my offer letter!!! stupid international office phone line always busy busy busy!!!
